You are Holy in God's Sight

Everyone has a preferred choice when presented with various interests like colour, outfit, food, drinks, cars, or neighbourhood. We all settle for what suits us best and makes us happy. This can be related to how God before the creation of the world chose us as holy for Himself. Ephesians 1:4 NIV says, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight”.

The word chosen stems from a word that explains something is designed way ahead of time. It’s like when you want to build your dream apartment and you have the imagination of what it should look like. How big you want the kitchen and you want a garden, a big courtyard and a pool. The design is in your head. Thus, when the Bible uses the word chosen In Ephesians 1:4 it’s looking at God as being an architect, who has got it all planned out and in His plan chose us to be holy and blameless.

Now, being holy means to be set apart, to be separate. Holiness is of the heart, a state of heart which comes into being because we have given our lives to Jesus. Therefore, when we look at holiness, we must look at it from the point of view of who we are first instead of what we do. This does not mean our actions would not align with our profession of being holy. A person who is holy must behave holy. Holiness first of all is from the heart and the Bible says all issues of life proceed out of the heart. So, if we claim to be holy, it must reflect in our words, actions, relationships and conducts.

We are holy in God’s sight because He has transferred that nature into us since believing in Jesus. In the book of Colossians 1:22 look at what it says here" In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight" This means that your natural identity as a child of God is holiness. It is not about works, rules, regulations or set boundaries. Or all the rules of the Old Testament, those rules have been fulfilled in Jesus. So now your natural habitation is holiness. Therefore when God looks at you, he sees you as holy. He sees you blameless, he sees you unreproveable in his sight. That is the way he sees you.

Hence, you should go about with the mindset that says because Christ lives in me, I am holy. And because I am holy, I will act holy.
