It is charismatic irresponsibility to be laid back and expect God to play our parts for us because He has said, “Be still and know that I am God.” A complete trust in God only produces results when it is run alongside taking responsibility for one's life. While worry or anxiety doesn't solve issues or take us anywhere, we cannot just resign ourselves to fate as kingdom citizens. It will be appalling to fault God or feel He is partial when things don’t turn out as planned, whereas we missed out on playing our parts. Thus, playing our part is stretching out our hands to receive and not waiting for it to be shoved in our pockets. It is improving our skills, networking, paying attention, marketing etc. The claim that we control nothing applies only to powers, and supernatural forces that are out of our realm. We have control over the help God has given us, both in resources and in men. This is because we have the power and liberty of choice knowing that we are greatly backed up by the promise of Jesus in Matthew 7:7 that says, “Ask, and it shall be given unto you, seek, and you shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” So, after asking, we are to stay still (wait) and let God work things out. What is to be juxtaposed now is the waiting that means complete trust in God, and the waiting that colours leaving things to chance. Let's say I want a job and I have submitted applications online. Leaving things to chance would be I have prayed, made decrees and submitted applications, but I don't follow up or check my mails regularly. Then one day when I checked, I realized that I was scheduled for an interview, but the deadline had passed. On the other hand, having an absolute trust in God is when I’ve prayed, sent in applications, then I follow up on my mails, so I can seize the Bull by its horn when the opportunity comes knocking. This could sum up faith and work. Having a carefree or lackadaisical attitude to things doesn't equal trust in God. When we ask God for things, it is very important to be relaxed and not try to find solutions on our own, all the same it doesn't mean to be complacent or be unnecessarily unbothered. It is your duty to roll, God will cause the dice to land. Leaving both rolling and landing is leaving things to chance. Rolling, believing that God will cause the dice to land, is absolute trust in God.
