Day 12: Peace with God
“and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in hea...

Parents have a big responsibility in ensuring their children follow the Lord. You must be the one who leads your children to the Lord Jesus. It is not the church’s responsibility.

Remember what God told Abraham in Gen 18:19? “I know Abraham will teach and command his children to keep the way of the Lord” How do we do this? Personal bible study time and living the lifestyle of a believer.

God is a generational God and some of the vision that God has shown to you will need your children to expand it after you are gone but how would that happen if you don’t mentor them in the way of the Lord?

God is a generational God and some of the vision that God has shown to you will need your children to expand it after you are gone but how would that happen if you don’t mentor them in the way of the Lord?

In Judges 2:10, we see an example of parental failure in exposing children to God’s precepts that is applicable to our day and age. Because after the death of Moses and Joshua and the amazing records of God’s conquests for the children of Israel, we read:

“Also, all [the people of] that generation were gathered to their fathers [in death]; and another generation arose after them who did not know (recognize, understand) the LORD, nor even the work which He had done for Israel.”

â€â€JUDGES‬ â€2:10‬ â€AMP‬‬

So we see a whole generation forgot about God and His commandments. They were never exposed to the testimonies of God or His words. In fact, we see the whole nation already set up to fail here. How did a generation arise in Israel who did not know the work that the Lord had done for Israel? It could only have happened because fathers and mothers ignored the teaching of Moses (Deuteronomy 6:7; 11:19), and neglected to speak to their children of the mighty deeds of God "when they sat in their house and when they walked in the way, when they lay down and when they rose up."

Deut 6:7, 11:19 is talking about a lifestyle of teaching the word of God.. it is simply modelling what the word of God mandates in our lives and interactions.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

Parents, hear the word of the Lord:

God established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children; that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments. (Psalm 78:5–7)

Parents, do you spend 10 or 15 minutes a day or per week with your children rehearsing the great things God has done for his people and drawing out lessons for life?

Do you have a big fat Bible storybook that boils the stories down to their most essential and exacting points? I am still trying to get this storybook done myself..?‍♀️

We must remember this, no matter how many conquests of faith we may be enjoying, if we aren't teaching our children the great deeds of the Lord and the great doctrines of the faith, we are preparing them to serve the Baals. And the Lord will hold us accountable for that—not their Sunday school teacher.

As a father, you are responsible. Together with your wife, you must see to it that they do not forget the Lord or the great works he has done for his people throughout redemptive history.

“Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life.”

â€â€Proverbs‬ â€22:6‬ â€TPT‬‬

My prayer is “May God be able to testify of you and say “I know [put your name] that he/she will teach his/her children the way of the Lord””
