Day 12: Peace with God

In Col 2:10 lies one key phrases that believers of the Lord Jesus Christ must never forget: You are complete in Jesus. What? Yes – you are complete in Jesus who is the head of ALL principality and power. The word “complete” is from the Greek word “pleroo” which literarily means “made full”. If we relate this to John 1:16 where it says “of His fullness we have ALL received, grace for grace”, it shows that I not only have the fullness of Jesus in me right now, it keeps expanding from grace to grace. So the questions is: Why would I see myself less than someone who is full of God? Notice that this statement comes after Col 2:8 where we were told to be on guard against any deception that suggests we are not “full of God”. A person who knows he is full of God does not pursue the destructive behaviour of "becoming". If you do, you will be deceived.

We are made full in Jesus - perfected with Him

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lies in you. The One who is above principality and power (Eph 1:20-23, 1 Pet 3:22) lives inside of you. Why would I pray or relate to God as if I don’t “have” God or that I am Godless? Why would I pray a prayer like “As I go out today, please go out with me” when He Himself declared He will never leave me nor forsake me (Heb 13:5)? Why would I ask Him to "come into our midst” when we gather to fellowship when He has already promised that where 2 or 3 are gathered in His name He is among us (Mat 18:20)? Why would I pray or sing to God for Him to “create in me a new heart” when He said He has given me a new heart at the new birth (Hebrews 8:10-13, 2 Cor 5:17)?

If we pray or sing any of those prayers, we are not walking in the reality of the new covenant. We are literally saying Christ has not died. We are rejecting God’s view. The solution? We repent. We change our minds. All these thoughts came because we confuse the realities of the new and old covenants or because we don’t really believe what God declared in His word. Religion believes I have to do to become. Grace says you do because you already are. You are complete in Jesus. You are the fullness of God because you are in Jesus.

What images come to your mind’s eyes when you think of the word “fullness”? A parked stadium? A children playground? A beach scene during summer holiday? Etc. Write down what you have seen or felt when this image floated in your mind

In this image you hold, ensure you fill any space left until there is no space left to fill. Now, ponder on what it means to be full. What does fullness mean to you now?

Retrace that image back to yourself now and imagine what it means to have the fullness of God in you. How does that make you feel?

If you were to pray now for anything, how might this imagery help to increase your faith? Journal your answers.

Beautiful Father, what an amazing thought to know that I am complete in you. All the sense of lack and anxiety that I feel at times is because I have focussed on me instead of your fullness in me. I am grateful for the indwelling Christ in me and the power He supplies to me every-time.
