Day 12: Peace with God
“and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in hea...

*IS THE HOLY SPIRIT REALLY THE ONE CONVICTING BELIEVERS OF SIN? REALLY?*

If you were brought up like me to think that the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin, I am here to tell you that you have believed wrong. Don’t switch off my message yet. Hold on. Let me show you.

“And when he comes, he will expose sin and prove that the world is wrong about God’s righteousness and his judgments. “ ‘Sin,’ because they refuse to believe in who I am. “God’s ‘righteousness,’ because I’m going back to join the Father and you’ll see me no longer. “And ‘judgment’ because the ruler of this dark world has already received his sentence.”

John 16:8-11 TPT

There is nothing in those scriptures that says the Holy Spirit convicts believers of sin - and this is the word of Jesus Himself.

Now, let me show you a clincher. Heb 10:14 says we have been made perfectly holy and complete for all time. This means you are sinless in the eyes of God. But now look at Heb 10:15-17, the bible says: “*The Holy Spirit confirms this to us by this Scripture,* for the Lord says, “Afterwards, I will give them this covenant: I will embed my laws into their hearts and fasten my Word to their thoughts.” And then he says, “I will not ever again remember their sins and lawless deeds!”

So, what is the Holy Spirit conforming to us? That God says to us: “I will not ever again remember their sins and lawless deeds!”. Did you get that? The Holy Spirit within you is the One who constantly confirms to you that God no longer remembers your sin.

Wow! But why would He do that? So that you can be righteousness conscious. If He constantly tells you that your sin is still an issue, you will never be free from condemnation and guilt. You will never be victorious as a Christian. You cant even have an effective prayer life! What a terrifying way to live!

The bible did not say the Holy Spirit is an afflicter. Jesus calls Him “Another Comforter” in John 14:16 - which shows that the Holy Spirit has the same attributes that Jesus had while He walked the earth: The Comforter.

So, I know you may be asking, “why do I feel bad when I do wrong?”. The condemnation is from your own conscience. Conscience is under the Moral Dispensation that started in Gen 3:7 when the eyes of Adam and Eve were opened after they ate the forbidden fruit. Even unbelievers have consciences.

In Christ, and by His sacrifice, believers are meant to have had their consciences purged from evil work (Heb 10:22, 9:14). Having a good conscience is important so that you don’t shipwreck your faith (1 Tim 1:19) but the Holy Spirit’s work is to remind you of your standing in God and of your righteousness.

In conclusion, always remember that your sins have been forgiven and forgotten. Heresy? No! Read Heb 10:18 which says “So if our sins have been forgiven and forgotten, why would we ever need to offer another sacrifice for sin?”

And that is the big question. If God sees you holy and righteous because of the sacrifice of Jesus, why would you not see yourself holy and righteous?

Let’s us rise up to the stature of the mature sons of God. Let us embrace who God has made us in Jesus. Let’s be the Lights to a world in desperate need of Jesus.

Would you?
