Of Identity, Assignment & Authority

Have you ever wondered why the first assignment God gave to Adam was to till and keep the garden? This was given before God allowed him to exercise his dominion authority in naming all the animals. This is is because even though Adam was made in the image and likeness of God (identity), he must of a necessity function in his unique assignment (his garden of Eden) before he is allowed to exercise kingly authority over that assignment.

In the assignment that Jehovah has assigned to you, you must plant yourself in it before you can demonstrate authority in it.

Though your identity in Christ precedes your unique assignment, it is also true that your unique assignment was ordained before your birth (Eph 2:10) and it is by functioning in that assignment that your authority is effectively exercised.

So since God has given you a gift - then know for a fact that you have the mandate to exercise your kingdom authority in that gift/assignment. You are a child of God - that is your identity but your unique assignment is your calling. Find it. Plant yourself in it. Then exercise authority in it. Every resource you need to thrive in that assignment is already in the assignment but they don’t yield themselves to you until you plant yourself in the assignment - just like Adam could not name all the animals until he was planted in the garden.

Your gift is your garden of Eden. Your gift is your place of provision and an enclosure of protection. Be busy growing the gift, removing the weeds and tending to it. See to it that you allow no one distract you from immersing yourself in your assignment. Then rise up to command all the resources in that assignment to yield themselves to you - and they will - just like they did for Adam.

This pattern is true of Jesus too. He was and has always been a child of God but He was sent to earth for His unique assignment- to redeem a lost world back to the Father- and in that assignment, He exercised kingdom authority.

Do you know who you are in Him?
Have you found your assignment?
Are you exercising your authority in that assignment?

To start you on the journey in answering these questions, you must start with identifying who you are in Christ. Everything flows from there.

May you discover, develop and deploy God’s purpose for your life.
