How To Stop Yourself From Excuse Making Mentality.

An excuse is when you tell yourself the reasons certain things cannot be done. Do you know that anyone in the world today who has made a significant change in their lives or has ever done anything significant, have had to wage against the storm? Now they could have sat down and said, hey, you know what? I'm not going to do it again. A lot of persons have hit rock bottom and have had to pick themselves back up. While they were down, a lot of excuses would have popped in their heads to keep them staying down, like they do to most people. Excuses would always present themselves when we are supposed to get things done. We feel it's going to be stressful and time-consuming or just don’t want to commit ourselves, therefore, the escape route that easily shows up is to make excuses.

But the truth is, we all make excuses. In fact, we are never out of excuses. They are always just there. However, making an excuse for what God has called us to do would only just limit our ability to enjoy what God has in store for us. So why are excuses wrong? You see, when we come up with excuses, we consciously choose to avoid personal responsibility. And what that means is that, we negate our birthright and the dominion that God has given us to have glory and honour. In the Book of Psalm 8:5&6, the Bible tells us that God made man a little lower than the angels. He's talking about us. The Bible is saying, basically, God has made us a little lower than Himself, and He has crowned us with glory and honour. But God didn't stop there. The Bible says, God gave us dominion over all the works of His hands. So anytime I make an excuse for not doing the things I'm meant to do, what I am really saying is that I don't have dominion. I am saying that I don't have glory. I am saying that I don't have honour. But that is not the best of God for me.

Now, when we take personal responsibility for our lives, we break what we call the grip of codependency. We don't depend on other people to make our lives boot. Therefore, what are you going to do about it? Number one, refuse to excuse mediocrity. The Bible wants us to know that we can do more. We can be more. Keep on pressing forward to the future that God has in store for you. Number two, don't allow excuses to be your way of life. When an excuse comes to you, tell yourself, ‘I can't’ is not in my dictionary. Ask yourself the question, why I'm I passing responsibility to somebody else? What can I do about the situation? As you make conscious efforts about the things that you can personally control, you realize that nobody will have control over your life, not the religious people, not the politician, and you can take charge of your life. Thus, I just want to say, refuse mediocrity, refuse excuse making. You are destined for the top.
