The thought that says it's hard to be a Christian focuses our attention on what we are trying to do by our own effort to please God or to produce good works that are expected of us. However, Christianity is the outworking of a Christ-inworked life. What does this mean? In Galatians 2:20, the Bible says, “It is no longer I who lives, but Christ who lives in me, the work that I do now I do by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.” This means that I'm not trying to follow Jesus through my own effort, but I depend on Him to lead me. When we became children of God, we know that we have been translated from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God's dear own Son. What this would do for us is that we can only expect to act and behave as children of light – the new kingdom we now belong to. Translated is not transported. Translated means you change location and nature. God did not just change our location from the kingdom of hell, but we arrived totally different as a person in nature. So, it is not so hard to be a Christian if you depend on the Holy Spirit to help you live out this new nature.

The good news is God is the one who's working it in us. Never forget that. He is the one who's working in us to will and to do. ‘To will’ means He is the one who's helping us in shaping things and to perform according to His own good purpose. It is God who creates the power within you to desire to do His will and to bring the accomplishments of the desire in you. So anytime we're tempted to say it's hard to be a Christian we must know that Jesus Christ sees, feels, and knows what we are going through, and He's also praying for us. The other thing you must know is that Jesus did it all. On the cross of Calvary, when He said ‘it is finished’, He meant He did everything. And that it was necessary for you to be saved and for you to live the victorious life. Now, just believe that, and it's going to begin to work for you. It is impossible for you to fail at being a Christian when the anointing, Christ, is built inside you.

Lastly, reverse your thinking. Start to change your thinking from negativity to positivity, of been able to live the Christian life. And because our thoughts have greater effects when we voice them, start to talk to yourself by confessing and saying it is easy to be a Christian because God is in me. I'm yoked with Jesus. All things are working for me. As you begin to have this self-talk in you, then you will see that it is so easy to be a Christian. Because of what Christ has done, things will begin to change for you. And finally, remind yourself that the excellency of the power to live the Christian life is God's, not yours.
