What should give you assurance that the old sinful nature is dead is because a burial ceremony was performed for that old Adamic nature at that tomb near Calvary when Jesus died.

In the reckoning of God, every believer who has put faith in Jesus already had their old nature buried with Christ. This is why Romans 6:6-7 is so powerful if we allow its meaning permeates our hearts:

“We know that our old self [our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin. For the person who has died [with Christ] has been freed from [the power of] sin.”
â€â€Romans‬ â€6‬:â€6‬-â€7‬ â€AMP‬‬

Did you see what it says? The person who has died (past tense) with Christ has been freed (past tense) from sin (its nature and power). As far as God is concerned, no believer is a sinner. How could a believer be classed a sinner if the Spirit of holiness already lives in him/her? Here is the truth: Sin may compel you but it is no longer your master. Period! There was a burial of that old self that proves this!
