The need to be accepted in a group or to feel like you belong is a deep human need and if you have lived long enough, you may have experienced rejection - at the office, at home, in the church, among family members etc - and the feeling of rejection, if not managed, could breed a sense of unworthiness. A person who feels rejected can develop low self esteem or the feeling of not “being good enough”.

God satisfied this longing for acceptance by “accepting us in the Beloved”. In Eph 1:6 (KJV), the word “accepted” is from the Greek word charitoo, and it means “highly favored.” The word “Beloved” was used by God to describe Jesus when He was coming out of water after His baptism, way before He ever performed a miracle.

If God loves Jesus BEFORE He ever performed a miracle, be rest assured that God accepts, loves and favours you in Jesus without any need for you to perform. Your acceptance in Christ is never tied to any religious or good works you have done. Your acceptance is a function of the love that God has for you.

Rom 8:14-17 says we did not receive a “spirit of religious duty” that leads to the fear of never being good enough but we have received the “Spirit of full acceptance” enfolding us into God’s family. What is the implication of this? You will never feel “orphaned”.

You have been fully accepted by God. Period!
